What we are going to achieve

The project presents a long-term vision outlining a new Centre of Excellence for Mathematical Modelling and Advanced Computing in Science and Engineering (CoE MMAC) and a business plan for its establishment. The founders of the centre are the two leading scientific institutions in Bulgaria in the area of Mathematical Modelling and Advanced Computing - the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (coordinator) and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, both of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, together with the advanced partner Vienna University of Technology.

The CoE MMAC aims for further strong scientific excellence and impact on innovation, widening of joint activities with innovative industrial partners through and beyond the scope of pilot applications. It will develop new mathematical approaches and advanced computing tools for efficient solutions of problems with high scientific and social impact.

The CoE MMAC will considerably contribute to the H2020 Spreading excellence and widening participation programme by transforming the institutional landscape in research, technology development and innovations in Bulgaria towards significantly better performance for intelligent growth of industry and society, according to the Bulgarian Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization 2014-2020, especially the priorities "Informatics" and "ICT and Mechatronics and Green Technologies".
